1:30 p.m.
Dean's body temperature continues to be disconcerting. His hands and arms especially cycle from very hot to ice cold. Brenda, the hospice aide stopped by around noon. She said this was normal as he is no longer taking water or food. His breathing has become very shallow in the last four hours, with short, quick breaths. I have the oxygen pointing to his open mouth rather than in his nose. He continues to sleep and has not moved or responded. Dean's face looks more peaceful than twelve hours ago. Thankfully it is overcast and cool so far today. I have the window beside his bed opened a little, giving entrance to a nice gentle breeze. Yesterday evening Jonathan set up a small table for the laptop between Dean and the window. It is good to sit here right beside him. I saw twin fawns, probably just a day or two old, romping and kicking at the edge of the woods this morning.
