R Day 2

Today we met with Dr. Pierce first. He said the liver biopsy confirmed it was lung cancer. He said it liked to travel to the liver, adrenal glands, brain and bones, but that there was no evidence of any in his bones. Once he finishes up the radiation on his brain, he will begin chemo. It is given by IV in the Dr. office, one day a week for two weeks, then a week off. This repeats four times, taking a total of 12 weeks. Then he will be CT-scanned again to see if it worked. He said it usually either works or it doesn't. Dean agreed to go through it once. Dr. Pierce said it was a mild treatment, that he might lose his hair if he had any left after radiation. Would be fatigued, probably weak. He hoped for the best.

I was thinking about when Lazarus died. His body was dead. Four days dead and would have gone the way of all dead bodies. When Jesus called him forth, his body was restored, cell by cell, from the state of decay and decomposition. I reminded Dean that God could minister to him cell by cell, and restore those areas that have been affected/infected/mutated. I walked outside along the creek and called Don while Dean was waiting for his turn. Don reminded me that we need to cast down every thought, and every imagination that exalts itself above and against the knowledge of God. When 'worry' is allowed to run through our thoughts, we must cast those thoughts beneath our feet, remind ourselves that the Lord is sovereign in our lives, every aspect of our lives. He is Lord. We acknowledge Him as Lord. He is Lord of all the 'what ifs'.

We are in agreement, that no matter what, we will continue to trust His heart.
