Warm Weather

The temperature reached 60 today and was sunny. After lunch of a bowl of rice and beans, Dean was ready for a little walk. His legs are weak. The three stairs on the front deck are difficult to negotiate. We walked the equivalent of a short city block and back. It's downhill, then uphill a little. Dean had to push himself to get back home. His appetite remains good. Everything tastes extraordinary to him.

Yesterday, he spent a little time sitting on the front deck in the sun. The warmth, fresh air, and birds singing lifted his spirits.

I printed off an article for him to read concerning the possible lifting of the sanctions regarding the island where he spent time in the early 1950's. He has many fond memories and wonderful stories and hopes he will be able to return for a visit. I've scanned some old photographs and we had fun looking at them. Here he is getting a sendoff on his first trip in 1952.
