Rainbow of Hope

Today as we were heading out to Chemo, Dean stumbled and fell in the driveway. He partly caught himself and went down easy. But he couldn't get up and I couldn't lift him. He crawled to the steps thinking he could pull himself up. That didn't work. He couldn't get his right foot under him. So there he was, on his knee, holding onto the retaining wall while I ran back to call a neighbor. Thankfully he was home and came up right away. He was able to lift Dean to a sitting position where he caught his breath while I wiped the mud off both knees of his jeans. I knew his legs were getting weak. We had already talked about what we would discuss with the doctor today.

For his swollen feet, the doctor explained that in his condition, fluid will seep into his tissues rather than staying in his bloodstream. His kidney function is good. The soreness in the kidney area is, he believes, from the cancer in his adrenal glands. He said, "on", but clarified when I asked, that it is "in" causing the glands to expand. And the overall weakness he said was mainly from having the tumors in his brain and the radiation. He recommended Dean go ahead with the chemo today, then we would discuss next week whether to continue.

Just as we were getting settled in the chemo room today, a glorious, full rainbow appeared to the north. It was a full arch, the brightest one I have ever seen with each band of color being very defined rather than a gradient fading into each neighboring color. The photo, shot through the window doesn't do it justice.

What a beautiful promise the Lord gave you with the rainbow after a discouraging morning.
We love you,
