Up and Down

Here is his rugged self on the way home after a hunting trip in 1978. I think this is in or around Joseph. He loves that wilderness country with it's deep canyons and Old West feel.

After speaking with the oncology nurse on Monday about Dean's soreness in his kidney area, they made an appointment for him on Tuesday. However, Tuesday morning, he said it seemed better, wasn't as tender and wanted to wait until we wee the doctor next Monday. Late afternoon Dean wanted to get out for some fresh air so and I needed to shop. After a run through Costco, he felt good enough to trudge through the grocery with me. But by the time we got home he was ready for the recliner.

This morning he said he woke up early and felt better than he has in a long time. He said he was even thinking of driving to West Salem for coffee with his friend Paul! He did look better around his eyes. I bought some fresh cod from the coast at Costco and fixed it up in EVOO with some Cajun seasoning and a helping of grits. Made his eyes sparkle.

After taking out the trash and putting the can on the road for pickup, he was too weak to also take out the compost. It was pretty windy and a little rainy today and I think that cut through him a little. He continues to be in good spirits, thanking the Lord for His love and care. We marvel at the wonder of knowing and being known by Him. We were mentioning this old song sung so passionately by Jason Crabb.
